RESUMEN

The level of knowledge people have about Covid-19 can affect their anxiety and worry about this disease. The present study was conducted to assess the relationship between knowledge and anxiety about Covid-19 in nurses at Guilan University of Medical Sciences, north of Iran. This cross-sectional study was conducted on 270 nurses working in selected hospitals of Guilan University of Medical Sciences in northern Iran using a questionnaire that included demographic characteristics, knowledge (21 questions), and anxiety about Covid-19 (18 questions with two components of physical and mental). The data were analysed in SPSS ver. 21 using descriptive and analytical statistics. The mean score of knowledge of subjects about Covid-19 was 18.65 +/- 1.5 (range: 021);the mean score of physical symptoms of anxiety was 3.31 +/- 4.77 (range: 027);and the mean score of mental symptoms was 10.77 +/- 5.61 (range: 0-27). The mean of general anxiety about Covid-19 was 14.08 +/- 9.54 (range: 0-54) and most participants had sufficient knowledge and mild anxiety about Covid-19. In the present study, there was no significant relationship between the level of knowledge and the level of anxiety about Covid-19. It was found in the present study that nurses were well aware of Covid-19 and mildly anxious about it, but there were mental anxiety symptoms present. It is more critical than ever to engage nurses in educational and practical programmes provided by disparate institutions, primarily educational departments of hospitals, in different domains of mental health.

RESUMEN

In 2019, a new member of Coronavirus family, SARS-CoV-2, was appeared as a global pandemic and could infect 213 countries all over the world. Although some well-known companies have discovered SARS-CoV-2 vaccines, there is still not certain treatment in the world, especially for mutated species of this family. In addition of vaccine production, there are some antiviral or immunosuppression drugs that can reduce inflammation or interrupt one of the viral entrance steps to the cells. Now in this situation, nanoparticles because of their interesting features, such as the capability of being targeted to SARS-CoV-2 and the ultra-low detection limit can be considered as a novel treatment method of SARS-CoV-2 or even as reduction factors of SARS-CoV-2 infection rate. This review describes initially SARS-CoV-2 structure, internalization, and replication, along with its immunological responses and cell signaling that can be happened in the cells. Then, the role of nanotechnology in drug delivery toward SARS-CoV-2 and its detection are explained by gathering every research paper that studied SARS-CoV-2. © This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. RESUMEN

Introduction: The sudden onset and difficult consequences of COVID-19 pandemic are considered a trauma for healthcare. Despite its devastating consequences and psychological distress, it has also undergone positive changes. The main objective of this study was to explain post-traumatic growth among nurses and physicians during COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: In this study, a descriptive phenomenological approach was utilized and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 17 nurses and physicians who were selected by purposive sampling. The interviews were analyzed using Colizzi’s method. Results: The findings of the study were summarized into two main themes: distress with four subthemes including corona and loss of life, psychological trauma, ambiguity and confusion about the career path, environmental and interpersonal stress, and growth with four subthemes including alternative ways to overcome trauma, promoting interpersonal relationships, empathy in treatment, and finding meaning. Conclusion: The results of the present study revealed post-traumatic growth played an important role in maintaining the mental health of nurses and physicians beyond traumatic coronavirus pandemic. It is hoped that this study will encourage further exploration and examination of this subject and interventions for all groups of healthcare. © 2022, Kerman University of Medical Sciences.
